Croft Alley used to be one Melbourne's grimiest laneways and the ideal location for a street art festival. Don't Ban the Can and the bar,Croft Institute, joined forces in 2009 to showcase the best in laneway art to a soundtrack of hip-hop, afro-funk, soul and dub-step. The festival brought out some of Melbourne best graffiti artists such as Peril. The art that is exhibited on the walls is also featured in the book, Kings way. People complain in Melbourne complain when the council covers his work, but what happens when ones own defaces a important piece, that is what happened to one of Invader's pieces here.
